Research and Awards
There are many research opportunities available for students in the University Honors Program, including working as a research assistant, pursuing research awards and grants exclusive to Honors students, and applying for funding opportunities available to all GW students.
Honors students are also encouraged to pursue research support that is offered to all GW students, such as the Luther Rice Undergraduate Research Fellowship and the GW Undergraduate Research Award. Students can also visit the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships to look for other opportunities to support their research. Students may also complete independent research for academic credit, even absent an award.
To help students take advantage of these opportunities, Program Managers serve as advisors to students in the program. Honors advising offers support to Honors students in addition to advisors through their schools and majors.
"UHP courses were very helpful in improving the quality of my writing and argumentation style...I think it is really important that the UHP professors set high standards from the beginning (in Origins classes) and [I] have realized how fortunate I was to have such great mentoring on writing academic essays"
Christina Cottiero, International Affairs and Economics, Class of 2015
