What excites you about the work you do? As an entrepreneur, I'm excited to get to work every day because I am in charge of my own destiny. I can choose the clients I work with, the types of projects I work on, and the fields I want to focus on.
What is the most significant career experience you've had so far, and what made it meaningful to you? Starting my own business has been the most significant career experience I've had so far. I took the storytelling skills that I learned from SMPA, the critical thinking skills I learned from UHP, and the marketing skills I learned from building my food blog and applied them in a way that wasn't even on my radar while I was at GW. Additionally, while I was at GW I started my food blog, Better Than Ramen (betterthanramen.net), to flex my journalism skills and review restaurants that accepted Colonial Cash. BTR eventually grew into one of the most-read food blogs in DC. From this experience I had built an incredible portfolio of blog posts, photos, and videos, learned about business partnerships, and gained marketing skills that I now apply in my digital marketing agency.
Advice for current UHP students: Take advantage of GW's incredible network! Develop relationships with your classmates, professors, internship managers and more. You never know who might be able to help you in the future.
